July Featured Artist: Susan Simmons
July Featured Artist: Susan Simmons

Susan Simmons’ Horizons celebrates the intersection of presence and possibility. This select exhibition pairs Susan Simmons’ deeply atmospheric plein-air paintings with a special preview of her upcoming, unreleased collections. It is a visual journey that honors both the beauty of the present moment and the creative horizons yet to come.

In her newly released book, Picturing Gratitude, Susan Simmons reveals the root of thankfulness as a simple, profound act of paying attention. Through a carefully curated selection of her paintings paired with poetry, Susan opens a doorway to finding daily joy in the landscape of everyday life.

A gallery reception with the artist will be held Thursday, July 9, from 5:00–6:30 PM, offering visitors an opportunity to meet Susan, view the exhibition, and learn more about her artistic process and latest work.

Susan Simmons is a lifetime artist and recent author. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, she has spent decades capturing the landscape through plein-air and studio painting. Her work is frequently featured in regional exhibitions and community public art projects, including the annual Roger Tory Peterson Institute Plein Air Festival, as well as the ArtScape Jamestown and ArtScape Fredonia banner programs.
