Flyways Screening and Discussion

Lakewood Library is excited to announce that it will promote migratory bird conservation and citizen science initiatives through the SciStarter-HHMI Flyways program. This exciting opportunity is part of a nationwide effort to engage communities in the study and preservation of bird migration routes, known as flyways.

Attend a viewing of the acclaimed film, “Flyways”, and stick around afterwards for a follow-up discussion with Devin Banning from SUNY Fredonia.
He’ll be highlighting related citizen science databases and projects that support shorebirds and other migratory species. Bird migration is a fascinating and vital natural process. After watching “Flyways” you’ll be inspired to take note and contribute to the scientific research and conservation efforts for these magical birds.
